Neglected for Twenty Years

This Harley-Davidson motorcycle was stored in an old barn without a cover for twenty years. Bringing it back to life has been a wonderful experience and has given me great joy.

I've spent more time working on this vintage motorcycle than riding it. Restoring an out of date bike is not for the timid. Many parts are out of production, primarily due to the fact that so few were originally produced. Lack of demand stymies the secondary market providers from picking up the slack where the original manufacturer dropped off. So why do I love this old bike so much?

  • Timeless Design and Aesthetics
  • Mechanical Simplicity and Hands-On Appeal
  • Cultural and Historical Significance

Vintage motorcycles often feature iconic and distinctive designs that showcase the craftsmanship of their era. Classic styling elements like chrome accents, minimalist frames, hand-painted details, and unique badges exude character and nostalgia. They stand out from modern motorcycles, offering a blend of art and engineering that resonates with collectors and admirers.

Older motorcycles are typically less reliant on electronic systems, making them more straightforward to maintain and repair. This mechanical simplicity appeals to enthusiasts who enjoy the hands-on experience of restoring, tuning, and customizing their bikes. Owning and working on a vintage motorcycle provides a tangible connection to the machine and its history.
