Every now and then I need to step away from the screen, leave the tax code and HTML validators behind, and go find a little two-lane therapy. For me, that usually means rolling the 1997 Harley-Davidson Heritage Springer out of the garage, thumbing the starter, and heading out for a short “motorcycle break.”

This page is a simple place to park that idea: a few photos, a short video, and a reminder that sometimes the best debugging session happens somewhere between third and fourth gear out on a quiet Alabama back road.

I didn’t set out to build a show bike. This Springer was just a solid old Harley that slowly turned into a long-term project between busy seasons. Over time it got new paint, fresh chrome, some carefully chosen upgrades, and a lot of small adjustments that only another rider would ever notice.

What I like most is that it still feels honest—no trailer queen, no garage ornament. It’s a bike that’s meant to be ridden, whether that’s a quick loop around Arab on a Sunday afternoon or a longer ride that doesn’t really have a destination.

If you ever find yourself overthinking something, I highly recommend taking your own version of a motorcycle break. Even if your “bike” is just a walk through the neighborhood, a quiet ride around the lake, or a slow drive in an old truck, the principle is the same: step away, breathe, and come back with a clearer head.
